STELEX LLC publishes and supports STELEX Books. This page explains information handled through stelexbooks.com and how to contact us about it.
Browsing and choosing cookies
You can read our public pages without giving your name or email. Choose Accept required cookies to keep all optional tools off, or Accept all to allow them. Manage choices has separate controls for analytics and advertising measurement. Declining any optional category does not affect browsing, ordering, samples or reader extras.
Google Analytics and Meta Pixel load only for their accepted categories on our public pages. An earlier Google Analytics choice does not automatically enable Meta. Our hosting service processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. External checkout and social websites apply their own policies when you follow their links.
Cookies and browser storage
Required storage remembers your preference and enables features you request. Optional analytics is separate. You can reopen Cookie choices in the footer or use this control:
Required: your cookie choice
stelex-cookie-consent-v2 is saved in local storage on this browser, alongside the earlier stelex-analytics-consent-v1 analytics preference for compatibility. It records your categories and decision date. We honor it for up to 180 days, then ask again. Clearing browser storage removes the saved choice.
Required when you request the PDF sample
stelex_sample is a signed, secure access cookie lasting 30 days. It contains a random reference and expiry, not your email. It is set after your sample request, not just because you browse.
Required when you unlock reader extras
stelex_library is a signed, secure cookie lasting 30 days. It remembers book-code access without your name, email or payment details. Locking the library removes it; clearing browser cookies also removes access until you unlock again.
Optional: Google Analytics
_ga and cookies beginning _ga_ distinguish browsers and sessions after analytics is accepted. We configure a 90-day lifetime without extending it on each visit. Our separate anonymous traffic counter also runs only when analytics is accepted.
Optional: Meta advertising measurement
_fbp identifies a browser for Meta measurement; _fbc can preserve a real Facebook click identifier. They can last up to 90 days. We enable the Pixel only with advertising permission and respect a browser Global Privacy Control signal by keeping advertising measurement off.
What optional analytics measures
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics measures public page visits, engagement and successful sample or book-news requests. Your browser connects to Google, which receives network and device information, including your IP address. We disable Google signals, advertising personalization and automatic form, search and outbound-link measurement.
We configure public page addresses without query strings or fragments, and referrer origins without paths or search terms. We do not send email addresses, signup contents, confirmation tokens or reader-extras codes to Analytics. Private confirmation, preferences, sample and library routes are excluded. Past clicks to Lulu were not recorded as completed purchases.
Our own counter totals public page openings by day and a small set of source labels; earlier checkout-click totals remain in historical reports. Your browser initially keeps a fixed referral label, such as Google or ChatGPT, in memory. After analytics is accepted, stelex-traffic-source-v1 in session storage preserves only that label and its timestamp across pages in the same tab, with 30 minutes of inactivity expiry. Withdrawing analytics removes it. The counter stores no visitor identifier, full URL, name, email or raw network address.
If you allow advertising measurement, Meta Pixel sends public page visits, book views and successful sample or book-news requests to Meta. Event details use fixed book and action labels. We do not enable automatic form matching or send your entered email, name, reader code or payment details. Meta still receives browser, network, website and advertising identifiers and may associate activity with a Facebook or Instagram account under its policies.
This helps us understand visits and actions associated with our Facebook and Instagram ads. Page likes and follows are measured in Meta’s own tools. When a product link is selected, optional measurement may record the outbound retailer click if the visitor consents. A link click is not a completed purchase. Amazon does not send STELEX an automatic purchase-completion signal; earlier Lulu checkout payments were also outside our Pixel’s view. See Meta’s privacy policy and Meta’s Privacy Center.
Changing your optional choices
Use Cookie choices to withdraw or change permission. Withdrawing Meta permission refreshes the page to stop running measurement tools. We remove accessible optional cookies for this site and keep required sample and library access. A tool may finish sending observations already buffered before withdrawal; changing a choice does not erase information already processed or cookies on another provider’s domain.
Free samples and optional book news
An email address is required to unlock the PDF sample. We save your address, request date and the form used. Requesting a sample alone does not subscribe you to announcements. Sample-form book news is optional and unchecked; the separate “Notify me” form explicitly requests the Wuthering Heights launch announcement and occasional STELEX edition news.
We record the choice and consent wording version, then send a confirmation email. Only confirmed requests enter the book-news list. If you request STELEX Books updates at Lulu checkout, we can record that request with its order reference and evidence of your choice, then ask you to confirm by email. We keep any known consent date separate from the date we received the record. Repeated order imports do not renew an unsubscribed address; use our website signup form if you want to join again. Our website database maintains these choices; Brevo receives the email address needed to deliver confirmation messages. We do not sell your email address. See Brevo’s privacy policy.
You can unsubscribe through the link in our emails without signing in. We retain that preference to avoid further announcements unless you explicitly sign up and confirm again. Sample access does not depend on staying subscribed.
Protecting access
When chapter soundtrack access is activated for a verified purchase, we store its order and product reference, assigned email, verification evidence reference and access status. Purchase access is separate from marketing consent. A single-use email sign-in link expires after 30 minutes. The required stelex_soundtrack cookie contains a random token and lasts up to 30 days; server checks can revoke access earlier for returns, transfers or verification. Brevo delivers requested access and recovery emails. Local storage stelex-soundtrack-progress-v1 remembers only chapter, position and playback mode on this device. Soundtrack pages are excluded from optional measurement.
Signup protection uses short-lived, one-way digests and attempt counts instead of retaining raw network addresses in the signup database. Reader-extras protection similarly keeps a security digest and attempt count for approximately one day; expired records are removed during later access attempts. We do not retain the entered book code or a raw network address in that table. These protections do not require optional analytics.
Orders and support messages
Amazon processes orders placed there under its own privacy policy. STELEX does not receive an automatic Amazon order feed. For earlier Lulu purchases, Lulu collects order, contact, delivery and payment details in its separate hosted checkout, with payment processing through Stripe. It makes relevant order information available to STELEX so we can support your purchase and keep related records. Buying a book does not automatically subscribe you to book news. See Shipping, returns & support.
If you email us, Zoho Mail processes the message for our support inbox. We use what you provide to answer the question or resolve the issue. For Amazon music and reader-extras requests, we manually review the order number, eligible edition and proof of purchase you provide, and retain a private verification record with the listening email and access status. We do not receive an automatic Amazon order feed. Hide payment details, addresses and unrelated purchases before sending proof. Access verification does not subscribe you to marketing. Please do not email full payment-card details. Read Zoho’s privacy policy, Lulu’s privacy policy and Stripe’s privacy policy.
Retention, requests and contact
We keep contact and support records while needed to provide the requested service, maintain consent and unsubscribe choices, prevent abuse and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. STELEX is responsible for information it holds; Lulu and other providers handle their own processing under their policies.
Email support@stelexbooks.com to ask about your information or request access, correction or deletion. We may need enough information to locate the record and verify the request. We will explain any information we must retain and respond to rights requests under applicable law. You can also contact the relevant provider about information it holds.
